Qasam
THIS RUG'S STORY:
Meaning "partition, section, or split" in Arabic, Qasam is a gorgeous find from the Boujad tribe. Boujad rugs are often known for their freeform designs, and vivid colors. This one doesn't disappoint. The design is more abstract and looks quite differeent from other rugs in this tribe so I had to have it for my collection. I hand selected this one in Morocco, and it's a true work of art that would be a wonderful wall hanging, or great rug for an entry or other small area.
ABOUT MOROCCAN RUGS:
Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors in each rug vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.
COLORS/MATERIALS: warm coral pink with orange, brown, cream, and light seafoam green. Hand woven wool with cotton base.
ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage - 20-30 years approx.
SIZE: 47 x 78" (slightly crooked)
PILE/CONDITION: low pile. great condition.
