THIS RUG'S STORY:

Meaning "Crimson" in Arabic, this vintage find from the Ait Bou Ichaouen (Talsint) region is the named after its red hue.  With a mix of cream, charcoal gray, and even some peach, this vintage rug's colors are so pretty. And that pattern - Talsint rugs are known for their freeform and imaginative patterns.

The Ait Bou Ichaouen tribe is one of my favorites, and the rugs they create are true unique works of art. They often feature higher pile (like this one) as these rugs were used often used as blankets or too sleep on, and to provide warmth during the harsh winters.

This rug would be perfect in a bedroom or living room, and is versatile in style as it would be beautiful in a traditional or modern home.

ABOUT MOROCCAN RUGS:

Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors in each rug vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.
