Rosa is a gorgeous find from the Marmoucha tribe. It features an intricate pattern and interesting design, and a lovely mix of brown, faded red and khaki colors.

This rug was higher pile at one time, but has been worn down with decades of use. It was woven in the Middle Atlas mountain region in Morocco, where temperatures can change drastically. These pieces are significant to Berber culture as the higher pile kept members of the family warm. Traditionally these rugs were not used purely for decorative purposes, but more commonly as blankets or to sleep on!

Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors in each rug vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.

COLORS/MATERIALS:  cream with faded brown and faded red, and some hints of khaki/yellow; Hand knotted wool.  **please note: this rug is NOT stark white, but more of an aged off white background :)

ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage - approx. 40-50 years old

SIZE: 69 x 118" (not including tassels)

PILE/CONDITION: Low pile due to wear & age. Worn but a nice vintage piece. It will be best in a home that accepts its imperfections.

PLEASE NOTE: Because this is a handmade item, there may be slight imperfections in weaving, pattern, or shape. Please note all vintage items have endured a previous life and so may have slight wear and repairs.
